First day of School!

Little Shabby starts Kindergarten in 2 days . . . My how the time has flown! I cannot believe my BABY is old enough to go to school! But no time get all weepy I have to make sure we send her off as looking cool! And that means that we need to get crafting!


I have seen all the little printables and little notes for the kiddos lunch boxes and well I know me all to well to know that after the first or second day I will totally forget! So what better way than a chalkboard IN the lunch box! That way every night when we go to make the lunch I will remember to leave Little Shabby a love note!

p.s. Do you know how hard it is to find a HARD lunch box now a days? Very hard and then after my long hard search, I get the supply list that says a soft one is preferable!

This isn't the actual first day pic (obvioulsy it hasnt started!) but my model was more than willing!

Simple wood board from Hobby Lobby, $2.99 before coupon, some spray chalkboard paint and some jazzed up chipboard letters!

I made it chalkboard so that we can use it for her 'First Day' photo every year we just need to write the new school year! 

Wine-Themed Bridal Shower

So I have a friend who is getting married and I with three other maid of honors/bridesmaid threw her a wine themed bridal shower. First of all we had it at a local winery that was absolutely fabulous. Great venue, great owners who were super to work with, and GREAT wine!! The best part was the upstairs room they let us use was pretty much decorated so that meant we didn't have a whole lot to do in that department. So here are some photos from the event . . . And some of the little crafts in there I was not taking pictures as I did the projects so if you are patient with me a tutorial will follow!!

What would a wine themed bridal shower be without personalized wine glasses for favors . . . there are more wine glasses towards the bottom, but I can definitely say I will be doing these again (I signed up for another bridal shower!) so there will for sure be a tutorial on these!!

The food:

 The little hearts surrounding the vase of M&M's were a Target Dollar Spot find!! 

And the cut-outs were Cricut!!

  The drink tub was a plan old drink tub, cut out that beautiful monogram on the Cricut, and used WATERPROOF Mod-podge!! (I will be doing this again so a tutorial WILL follow!)

  These bad boys were one of the biggest hits of the party!! They were 12 stemless wine glasses, painted in chalkboard paint and written in chalk, which means the writing can be changed!! 

Another chalkboard craft, a vase painted in chalkboard paint and then all the guests signed in a white permanent marker!!

 The cake that was so beautifully matched up to the shower invitations!!

I had so much fun with so many of these projects and I cannot wait to do some more so that I can show you how easy they all were!! Hope you all enjoy . . .

Chalkboard frames . . .

Step 1: Find a unique, yet cheap mirror at your local Goodwill/Salvation Army/Thrift Store/Etc. The more ornate the frame the better!

Step 2: Take mirror our of the frame.

Step 3: Turn the mirror over and spray paint the back side with spray chalkboard paint! You can spray the mirror side of it but we do the back side JUST IN CASE one day we decide it should be a mirror again!! Better safe than sorry!!

Step 4: Spray paint the frame, you can do any color you like BUT the white against the chalkboard is so cute we usually end up doing that!!

Step 5: Put mirror back in frame and ta-dah . . . Chalkboard Frame!!

This frame we actually got in a set and did something for my daughters bedroom click HERE to see the mirror!

Isn't it amazing how a cheap frame/mirror can turn into something new and adorable??

Entry Table

So when you move from a 2 bedroom apartment to a 4 bedroom house you notice something . . . You lack the furniture to fill that house!! Also you don't have the money to go out and buy brand new furniture, well at least I don't!

So on our weekly adventures to Goodwill and Thrift shops we found this:

A simple blond colored 'sofa table'! I have a need for a sofa table, but I also have a need for an entry table and that outweighed the sofa table!!

(The picture is in my new backyard on top of a emptied box that you can see I have been using for a lot of paint projects!)

Painted it black . . . 

This is its home, not completely in my entry way but we dont have space in the entry way. So its kind of a 'down the hall from the entry, entry to the main living area' table! (Oh and in the picture is our future Shabby Chick, she loves to 'help' with the crafts, but even more she loves to be photographed!)

Oh yeah, I painted some black chalkboard paint on the top! I paid $9 for that jar and I am going to get as much out of it as I can!!

But this isn't exactly the end to this project. I still have to add some stuff to the table top and we are working on a corkboard project tomorrow that will be displayed above this table!! Cannot wait to show it to y'all!!!
